This large painting of shell hash started this series of shell paintings. It measures 36 x 48. I take loads of photos of the shells that wash up on shore, using the parts that I find the most interesting.
Working on a triptych is a bit of a challenge because you are really painting three canvasses at the same time using the same colors to make it all one image. I like the use of lacy foam rushing onto the shore across the tops of the paintings.

This painting took a long time to paint. I lost count of the number of shells in it. I based it on the photo of shell hash I showed a while ago, but always changing shells, adding shells to make the composition more interesting.
I've also had four paintings photographed to print giclees. I'm getting into a whole new realm of possibilities!
